Concordia

T his edition of Concordia pays tribute to the 1800-plus Old Merchant Taylors and staff who fought in World War One. The school commemorated the centenary of the Armistice in a variety of ways, marking the end of four years’ commemoration which began in 2014. Eleven Merchant Taylors’ schools came together for a magnificent Remembrance Concert at the Birmingham Symphony Hall on November 10th while a group of CCF Cadets went to Ypres where they laid wreaths and paraded. In the Inner Quad, batons and crosses were laid by tutor groups, each one recalling a different soldier. In this edition we also pay tribute to Geoffrey Brown, History master and Archivist, who gave 36 years’ outstanding service to Merchant Taylors’ from 1976 to 2012. Geoffrey died in September this year and there were many wonderful tributes from OMTs that soon appeared on social media. If you have any memories which you would be happy to share via Concordia we would be delighted to hear from you.
