Welcome to Phab at MTSPhab is a national charity that helps to “promote and encourage people with and without physical disabilities to come together…and make more of life together”. The school is an active member of this charity and has for nearly 40 years provided a residential week of fun for disabled teenagers, here at the school. What is Phab week? For one week in the Easter holidays, pupils of Merchant Taylors' School and St. Helen's School host around twenty disabled teenagers for a week of intense fun and activities. This allows disabled guests and our students to share a common experience and each other's company. It also provides well-deserved respite and break for the caring families of the disabled children. For the MTS boys it is one of the most challenging and rewarding weeks of their lives. Phab has an extremely high profile at Merchant Taylors’ and each year 80 Lower VI boys apply for 10 places on the Phab Team. To raise the money needed to run the week, events take place throughout the school year, such as gigs, revues, comedy evenings, concerts and sponsored events all of which are organised by the boys and girls involved in Phab. Each year, Phab needs around £8,000 to run the week, nearly all of which is raised by the school community. We hope you enjoy taking a look around the site and that you are able to get a sense of what is truly an incredible experience for all those who are lucky enough to be involved in the scheme |
