Careers & University

The Careers department aims to provide information, guidance and training to equip boys not only for entry to higher education but also for a successful and rewarding career.  The Head of Careers is available for individual consultation throughout the school.

Out excellent resource centre contains reference material covering occupations, university applications, GAP year options and sponsorship.  Prospectuses for the major universities and colleges are available.  There is also a bank of computers for research online.

At the end of the Spring term we held our annual Higher Education Convention in conjunction with St. Helen's School.

Over 25 delegates attended from a wide range of universities, representing their various academic disciplines.  Their brief was to tell the L6th students about what it is like to study English, Mathematics, Medicine, Law etc. at university; to give them an idea of the different possibilities within the subject area, the study skills involved and the qualities looked for in applicants.  Other delegates led seminars on the art of applying to popular universities, studying at American universities and taking a Gap year.

Other Pages

....of the Careers Site provide information about the year's programme, including details of some of the major events.  There are also pages about Work Experience, UCAS, taking a Gap year and the school's Industry Links.
