The Enrichment ProgrammeThe aims of the enrichment programme are to challenge and inspire some of our most academic and intellectually gifted pupils to excel across the curriculum and to explore the way they think and discuss their ideas. Emphasis is placed on thinking skills, on presentation of ideas and on being able to go beyond the narrow confines of A level. Within a small groups mentored by staff, a culture of self-directed learning and initiative that is intended to prepare boys for their experience of selection for top universities is quickly established. Boys are encouraged to see their academic and personal enrichment as part of their own personal responsibility rather than being merely delivered by a third party. The result is a programme full of lively debate, marked by significant progress and achievement. end Joe Hartley
