Parents Information
These are the guidelines we go through with your sons: you might like to go through these guidelines with them as well. You will all shortly be preparing for exams whether external public exams or school exams. A general timetable for all exams and other exam information is available on these pages. If you are in the Divisions (Year 10) and above and taking external exams, then you get your provisional exam timetable in February to help you plan your revision schedule. At the start of the summer term you will all receive a final timetable for their exams. This tells you exactly when and where they occur. You can use this in revision planning and should bring it along to each exam as it tells you both the exam room and their seat number. At the same time you'll get an information sheet outlining the exam regulations . In certain exams you can use calculators and sometimes texts. Remember there are very particular regulations about this too. Your form teacher and your subject teachers will go through this with you. Copies of these are on the school website or you may like to show your parents your own copy. We run each school exam along the same lines as an external exam so that you know what to expect in external exams and learn to feel confident about all the procedures and regulations by the time you sit them. If you are in the Divisions (Year 10) or above you'll take your exams within an "exam period" when you need be in school only for exams and when required by a member of staff. You aren't required to attend lessons, but your teachers, and our study facilities (the Library - silent work only please) are available to you and lunch is still provided. Sports fixtures continue during the exam periods and you will be expected to honour your commitment to your team-matesby turning out for your team unless there are special circumstances. Activities like the Cadet Corps, Duke of Edinburgh, Community Service and other programmes may also require you to be in school during their exam period. If you are in school for any reason you need to be in proper uniform. 4th years (year 9) and below are in school as normal for your exams. You go straight to the exam room at the start of the morning and afternoon and absence is taken there. Of course normal school rules apply to all of you during exam periods. Best of luck! |
