Hilles HouseHilles House has a distinguished founder in Richard Hilles (c. 1514 – 1587). He was himself the son of a Master of the Merchant Taylors' Company (another Richard Hilles), and led a fascinating life as a religious activist during the time of Cromwell. The House itself is a close-knit group, and we function in a variety of ways. New boys to the school make friends and settle quickly within their House tutor groups, and have senior boys in the form of mentors and House prefects (Upper Sixth) to keep a watchful eye out for them around school. We have had success in a number of house competitions; opportunity is provided for all in a vast range of activities from Maths to Soccer to Chess to Swimming. Boys are encouraged to pitch in with competitions regardless of ability and always get really fantastic support from their house colleagues. We meet as a house in assemblies on Wednesday mornings, the subject matter of which can range from current issues to jokes and general knowledge quizzes.
