Mission Statement

Mission

The Library and Information Centre exists to provide materials and resources to support pupils’ and teachers' studies, together with their cultural and recreational needs.

Objectives

  • To meet the Library Association’s guidelines for secondary school libraries, pertaining to facilities and staffing.
  • To provide material to support all subjects across the curriculum, and closely liaise with teaching departments to meet school curriculum aims.
  • To provide recreational material to broaden students' intellectual capacity, and meet their cultural and recreational needs.
  • To revise the current stock regularly to ensure that all material is relevant and in good condition.
  • To provide training for LIC staff to ensure that the service is of a high standard .
  • To foster information skills through formal classes and informally at point of enquiry whenever possible.
  • To devise means to inculcate the enjoyment of reading.
  • To devise suitable qualitative and quantitative indicators to measure the performance of the service.
