From Buffy to Shakespeare
Monday 21st September saw the first ever tri-poet charity event here at Sandy Lodge.
Returning poets Isobel Dixon and Simon Barraclough joined forces with fellow Salt Publishing supremo Julia Bird and wowed the crowd for nearly two hours.
The theme for the evening was 'Heroes and Heroines' - this year's National Poetry Day topic - and the forty-strong audience were treated to a spectrum of amazing and memorable characters: flying monks, lost whales, Buffy the Vampire Slayer - even Shakespeare.
The event closed with members of the PHAB committee, who outlined their future plans and encouraged those present to donate generously to a retiring collection. Chorleywood Bookshop also manned a bijou stall and there was a brisk trade, by all accounts.
Many thanks to Isobel, Simon and Julia for making the evening so very special. |
