Success for Merchant Taylors’ at The 2003 Rotary Technology Tournament

The Design & Technology Department came back victorious from the South Herts area competition after winning the Key Stage 4 category of the competition. Schools from the area sent a total of 120 pupils to this hotly contested annual event. Pupils were given a task set on a fictitious scenario based around a train derailment. Our three teams of 4 boys had to design and make a remote control lifting device that would remove a canister of toxic waste from an overturned freight wagon. The winning team comprised of James Culley, Adam Lubzanski, Simon Melvin, and James Bradley. One of our other teams came a very close second. Well done to all twelve boys.
