Amnesty International SocietyAmnesty International is an organisation committed to upholding human rights around the world. It aims to raise funds for those in need and raise awareness of worthy causes. In the school, both these challenges are met by the boys. Last year, they raised money via a table-tennis tournament which was sent to the Amnesty Head Office. They were also involved in writing letters to MPs and ministers. One pupil recieved a detailed response regarding British arms sales which was published in the school magazine. Meetings take place at lunch time and act as a forum for debate as documentaries are shown to highlight areas of human rights abuse and the boys present their own findings to their peers. |
