Young EnterpriseWhat is Young EnterpriseYoung Enterprise is a nationwide Business and Education partnership scheme whose motto ‘Learning by Doing’ sums up its primary aim, which is for students to gain practical experience of the world of work by forming and run their own company for a year. Companies are legally recognised and as such follow established protocols: electing a board of directors, raising share capital, and marketing and financing a product or service of their choice. At the end of the year companies supply a report to their shareholders as well as offering dividends, which of course vary in amount according to the success of the company. Merchant Taylors’ offers this scheme to boys in the Lower Sixth and places are much sought after!
