White HouseWhite House is one of the school's 8 houses. The house tutor system forms the basis for both pastoral care and academic supervision. Each boy has a tutor and the tutor stays with that boy right through his time at the school. Tutors meet with their tutees every Thursday morning at 08.40 in their tutor rooms for 25 minutes. Additional meetings may be arranged outside these times as needs must. Tutor groups are typically small, so your tutor can get to know you really well. Each tutor has a maximum of fourteen tutees aned obviously they come from every age group, so you get to know boys outside your own year group and older boys can help you settle in. It is customary for a tutor to write to each new boy before September to welcome them to the school community. The House is named after Thomas White who was involved, in Tudor times, in founding several educational establishments around the country, principally he was the founder of St. John’s College Oxford in 1555 and the close links he established betwen that college and our school flourish to this day. Here is a list of the teachers in the house, the subject they teach and any other area of interest they have.
House Assembly Lecture Theatre House Colour White (!) White House meets every Wednesday in the Lecture Theatre at 8.45. This is where we organise House activities and select teams for a wide range of sporting and intellectual pursuits. It gives an opportunity for older boys to develop their leadership skills. More often than not the assembly is opened with a reading chosen by a senior pupil. PatWild |
