Concordia Winter 2019 25 Concordia Winter 2019 24 Development A ll of these OMT hockey players have come through the partnership between OMTHC and the school. The partnership was set up by the former Director of Sport, Joe Cowan, and is continued by current Director of Hockey, Richard Alexander. Mike Penny, OMT Junior Hockey Club Director, does a fantastic job in organising much of the current programme. Playing for OMTHC, the schoolboys have benefited from playing with and against adults. The confidence and skills they have acquired has seen many go onto a high standard of hockey after leaving MerchantTaylors’, some of whom are featured here. None of this would be possible without the tremendous support of a large number of people. Among them are Philip Newfield (1958- 1963), one of the co-founders of OMTHC in 1966; Varun Paul (1998-2003), former OMTHC Captain; Andrew Pollock (2002-2007) OMTHC Chairman; Benji Hassell (2006-2011) OMTHC Men’s Director of Hockey and numerous other OMTs who help with this very special partnership.
