30 ROUNDS
This year Myself and Nyah Patel were given the task of training 9 cadets, across each of the three sections in First Aid. These cadets were split into two groups; my group consisted of Cpl Henry McNaught, LCpl Sara Al-Mahdawie, AB 1* Rosie Joslin, AB Praneil Singh and LAC Ellie Hopkins. In Nyah's group there was AB 1* Emily Cawthorne, Cdt Bella Davey, Cdt Alan Lewis and LCpl Roshni Shah. After 6 weeks of teaching the trainees were ready for their testing. The tests include dealing with; a unconscious casualty, conscious and injured casualties, and an unconscious non-breathing casualty. Each of the trainees successfully completed each test extremely successfully, with people like Praneil stepping up and taking charge in his role as iC for the scenario which they were given to deal with. Individually they all had to perform tasks like CPR, the recovery position and are now equipped to deal with almost any situation involving first aid, as long as they remember their training!! It is now the job of these incredible 9 to teach the next generation of first aiders. Between the 9 of them, they will be teaching 21 cadets across different ages and sections. These new cadets will undergo the same training and in 6 weeks time will be fully fledged trained First Aiders in their own right. Overall our new programme has worked extremely effectively and I look forward to more people learning the crucial life skill of First Aid.
