30 ROUNDS
First Aid The Army Cadet Force Association Youth Training (ACFA YT) first aid course is arguably one of the most important specialisms on offer to cadets in the RAF section. This interactive 7-8 week course is about learning not only the basics of first aid but about how to deal with problems in real scenarios. Packed with rigorous testing and masterfully prepared simulation training, this course is not for the faint-hearted. With simulated explosions and high-quality special effects makeup, this isn't just any first aid course. Cadets will be pushed, both with their knowledge and understanding but also with their communicating and reacting abilities. We teach how to spot, respond to, and treat a plethora of different injuries, from major burns to spinal damage, the course is a thorough and engaging one. We provide cadets with a new take on teaching that fully immerses them in what they are learning and will not only provide them with an invaluable experience, but also with a real qualification from St John's Ambulance at the end of it that is going to be useful throughout your life. - Cpl Bella Davey, First Aid Specialism IC Fieldcraft Much of the fieldcraft course covers how to perform tasks tactically, specifically: tactical communications (both silent and radio-based) and tactical movement (both in and out of contact with the enemy). These subjects stand any cadets considering attending army camp in good stead, covering a considerable amount of the army syllabus, giving them non-RAF experience to broaden their CCF training in general. Living and working in the field is also covered, including how to set up and manage harbour areas (military campsites) and how to prepare food. Highlights of this course include the adrenaline filled close quarter drills such as tactical breaching and entry. There will also be an opportunity to use some opportunity to use unloaded paintball rifles for cadets who have not yet completed their WHT. What is special about this course is how it overlaps with others, such as the elements of navigation which are essential for movement in the field, and the focus on radios. What makes this course so rewarding is it’s general depth, enriching the cadets’ general learning and training with regards to life in the field. - LCpl Aman Khawaja, fieldcraft specialism 2IC
