30 ROUNDS

CCF has so many incredible opportunities open to cadets, some even to staff as well, many of which are tri-service activities. The ANZAC parade is an incredible parade in which members of the Merchant Taylors and St Helens CCF are able to represent their contingent. The ANZAC annual parade continues to be a major event for many people. Whitehall is closed in recognition of the sacrifices made by soldiers in the service of the crown and Commonwealth. The service includes an address by the Dean of Westminster Abbey and is followed by wreath laying, prayers and military music. Another aspect to CCF, which makes it so enjoyable, is promotions. Promotions, as with any job, feel great to receive, as they make all the hard worth work it and make you feel as though you are moving smoothly and successfully through your CCF career. They recognize your successes and give you more responsibility. Getting my first promotion, in Year 10, made me feel so special and that I was meant to be part of the Army section. Being in the Army Section has taught me so much discipline, as I have learnt to be responsible for keeping my uniform ironed and looking sharp, my boots squeaky clean, and making sure I am always on my best behavior. Wearing my uniform every Friday makes me truly feel so lucky and proud to be a Cadet. Joining CCF has definitely been one of the greatest decisions I have made, and I know that I will look back on these years that have taught me so much about not only myself but about how to work with others in a team. Regardless of which section you are in, there are always so many opportunities offered, which you should seize immediately. As a cadet, you get out what you put in, so really do make the most of your career in the CCF, as it can be a transformative time in your life.
