30 ROUNDS
Over the course of this half term the weapons handling cadre have learned skills using L98A2 cadet GP rifles. Split into two groups, one taught by Lt Williams and Albie (Lt Williams’ Dog) with another by Sergeant Logan, we have learned how to take control of a weapon (with NSPs), strip and assemble a rifle, load and unload, fit a sling and how to act when a stoppage occurs, although we haven’t actually fired the rifles yet. The clearly superior group, with Albie’s guidance, all passed the test. We ran through all the drills with some minor mistakes such as dust covers and stoppage drills being forgotten. The second group will do their test after half term. I have really enjoyed the course this term and am looking forward to using my new skills on field day and in the range.
