Gilbert. 3 rd XI The 3rd XI played just one game in the second half of term, against Magdalen College School in the warm sunshine. Magdalen opted to bat first and promptly lost all wickets for just 59 runs. Shay Kohler and Jay Patel took three wickets each, whilst Thomas Ames added a wicket of his own with a fine ball, and Adam Chatoo took the final two wickets. After tea, Tunveer Mangat and Vedant Gokakkar set to work beating the total, including several fours and a fine Mangat six. Gokakkar was taken with a brilliant catch in the deep, allowing Graham to join Mangat. The pair easily obtained the last few runs to win by nine wickets. Avery successful season for a hugely talented 3rd XI: many of these boys will play for the 1st or 2nd XI next year. Mr I L Regan-Smith Squad: T. Ames, A. Banerjee, M. Barnfather, A. Chatoo, S. Davies, J. Ellis, O. Gilbert (Capt), J. Graham, V. Gokakkar, J. Hoh, A. Jegeswaran, B. Kantaria, S. Kohler, M. Mangat, T. Mangat, J. Patel, R. Rana, L. Samarakoon, A. Singh, S. Soneji. U15A The culmination of the season did not quite reach the heights of the first half. We were unable to take advantage of our momentum to beat Harrow in the Middlesex County Cup final. However, we continued to show our dominance as we competently swept aside St Albans, Magdalen College Oxford, and the ParamattaAcademy fromAustralia. Mr P J B Davies Squad: N. Bhattacharya, G. Muralitharan, D. McLeish, D. Justus, O. John, A. Patel, N. Gokal, S. Shankar, A. Sheikh, T. Groves, J. Kenny, S. Ganesh. U15B A very good second half of term from an excellent group of lads as impressive victories were secured against St Albans and Magdalen College School. Against St Albans a score of 183 was chased down with highly impressive maturity by Zayd Ahmed and Ryan Wilkins. This partnership was one of the undoubted highlights of the second half of the season. The other, perhaps strangely, was a gutsy performance in defeat against a very strong Haberdashers’ Aske’s side. Here, a strong fielding stint in blistering heat preceded a batting effort that almost led us to an unlikely victory: Jaroash Mathan and Eben Terry gave HABS a real scare but could not quite get us over the line. The group was consistently excellent in its application and possesses some cricketers of real talent: it is perhaps pernicious to single out individuals in such a well-balanced team but Ryan Wilkins is a serious cricketer, Abhinav Kandala batted and bowled with ever-increasing expertise and Eliot Lakin possesses one of the most shrewd cricket brains on this, or any other, circuit. A number of these chaps will have a serious chance of representing the very top school teams if they continue to work as hard – and with such good cheer – as they did this year. A pleasure for all concerned. Mr M T Herring Squad: Z. Ahmed, A. Chadha, M. Crow, S. Ganesh, A. Kandala, D. Kotecha, E. Lakin, J. Mathan , A. Meghani, A. Meshram, I. Patel, N. Prabhakar, M. Shah, E. Terry, A. Vora, E. White, R. Wilkins. U15C The U15Cs did not let the sporadic weather get the better of them in the second half of the 2019 season. Whilst there were some challenging conditions that would have certainly suited a swing bowler, MTS often made the most of the opportunity to put their scenario-based training into action. The two highlights of the second half of the season were against Harrow and HABS. The former was a closely fought game against a strong Harrow in which 15Cs gave up wickets when laying the foundations of partnerships, but Eben Terry steered the ship through troublesome waters with a tenacious 38 off 80 balls. Unfortunately, Harrow won by a wicket with 4 balls remaining. The 15Cs took this close-fought game in their stride and wanted to put local rival HABS to the sword in the last game of the season. This was adeptly done, with Kavin Muhunthan scoring 55, backed up with an all-round performance from the bowling attack. This led to the 15Cs winning by 36 runs. It was a most enjoyable season, with the pupils throwing themselves into the spirit of the game and enjoying playing cricket with their peers. Mr J M Tidmarsh Squad: A. Tokeria (capt), I. Chandoo, L. Farr, I. Karawalli, J. Keeney, D. Kotecha, K. Muhunthan, A. Nathwani, A. Patel, A. Shah, R. Shah, S. Shah, E. Terry, E. White, A. Yaqoob. U14A The U14As have shown glimpses of what they are capable of. With the ball and in the field their performances have gone from strength to strength. Angus Whiteside, having just been selected for Middlesex, was unlucky to pick up a shoulder injury that ruled him out for the second half of the season. Credit to him: he has come to most games to support and help the side and his attitude and commitment have been exemplary. Affan Kundi has opened the bowling with pace and accuracy, bowling left arm seam to set the tone with the ball. Vedant Palekar, a hot prospect as a left- arm spinner, has impressed everyone with his control and skill. In the field, Daniel Steven-Jennings has shown his athleticism. He has also shown potential with both the bat and the ball. The results this half of the season have not gone the U14As’ way, and they have come up short, predominantly with the bat. To succeed in any cricket game, batting is one of the three facets that need to fire. I know that with the passion, desire, and base that these boys have, they will undoubtedly improve and make the necessary adjustments throughout the winter to come back fighting in their U15 season. Rishi Thapar has captained the side tremendously. He has a high cricket IQ and understands the game well; he has also
