Taylorian 2020
87 Junior B The Rugby Junior B Team enjoyed a fantastic season in the spring term. Over thirty boys took part in matches at some point, and every single one of them worked hard to advance their skills. It was an absolute pleasure to see the boys engaging with the games devised by myself and the other coaches. By the end of the season, all of them had moved from just wanting to run around and bang into each other to thinking about their play and how it could be improved. That being said, they mostly still just wanted to run around and bang into each other, which is no bad thing. There were many highlights to pick from. One personal favourite was seeing Tyler Eades master the bountiful energy he possesses and turn it into a positive influence on the other boys in the team. Another was seeing some of the boys develop as good a body position in the ruck as Iago Palmer, who was superb from the start. Lastly, but most importantly, it was a pleasure to see all the boys enjoying their rugby. Mr B J Simpson Squad: H. Adebisi, D. Ashton,M. Bartlett, H. Breaks, J. Bridge, M. Christie, J. Dyer, T. Junior C The current crop of 3rds and U3rds have shown exceptional enthusiasm for rugby, and this was only improved by the unusually pleasant weather conditions throughout. It is therefore a massive shame that the season was cut short — the boys had thoroughly enjoyed their first few fixtures and were desperate for more. Fortunately, there was plenty of full- contact play each training session, which enabled the U13B team to develop strength in the art of rucking. This physicality paid off in two dominant wins against York House School and an extremely competitive game played against our own U13B team where the boys can be proud of their physical bravery. Several boys were poached for the A and B teams after the game. Huge progress was also made in the awareness of space and an understanding of team shape, particularly considering that many of our boys had never played contact rugby before this season. The progress made and the enthusiasm of the boys bodes very well for rugby at Taylors’ in the coming years. Mr B J Waterhouse Squad: P. Ahluwalia, M. Charles, A. Daryanani, Y. Desai, J. Garvey, B.
