Taylorian 2020

95 and this is something I would commend to the boys wholeheartedly. Playing the game in the right manner is as important as winning. They have been a fun group to coach, and I look forward to seeing their progress. Mr L J Charman Squad: T. Eades, H. Kalsi, R. Waddington, B. Perahia, P. Seidenberg, J. Sanderson, J. Elangovan, J. Garvey, O. Frenchman, S. Haria, H. Breaks, A. Hawkins, M. Barlett, D. Matyushok, J. Liu, A. Duggal. U12C The U12C team had a competitive season and made progress through performances and training. Despite finishing with one win, three draws and two losses, the side kept their spirits high. Henry Breaks showed promise in goal while Ethan Li and Casper Haley were outstanding, showing progress in skill and attitude. After an initial 4-1 loss to a very strong Reed’s side, the U12C team drew to Sir William Borlase Grammar in a nail-biting draw. Despite a lot of pressure, they couldn’t convert more than one of their chances; although they dominated for large periods, the result was 1-1. They took this form into what was the performance of the season, defeating Caterham 4-0. The skill and passing were testament to their early progression. Shayan Nezami, Felix Ryans and Nikhil Mehta epitomised the team’s attitude as the side went on to compete in two more competitive games, drawing both 1-1 before ending with a 2-0 defeat by Reed’s. Despite the final score line, this was a much improved and competitive game, showing just how much the side had progressed throughout the season. Mr M J Penny Squad: H. Breaks, C. Haley, K. Huang, E. Li, N. Mehta, S. Nezami, M. Rodriguez Arellano, F. Ryans, V. Shukla, X. Zwiefka- Sibley. U12D The Taylors’ U12DHockey teamof 2019 was outstanding: aggressive when attacking, solid in defence, and determined. They began the season with a heavy loss to a very strong Reed’s School, but that was quickly forgotten with a massive 9-2 win against Caterham School the following weekend. The boys held their formation well, played down the wings, and pressed high and quick. The following weeks saw victory against Kingston Grammar School and a redemption against Reed’s School. The U12Ds showed spirit and sportsmanship, and represented the school excellently. The most notable appearances were from James Dyer and Magnus Christie, who were solid in defence and allowed nothing past. It just so happened to be both the boys’ birthday, so it was lovely both to celebrate a win and eat some cake! The squad still has elements to improve on, but there are certainly a lot of positives to take forward into next season. Mr S J Reid Squad: T. Hawkes, M. Christie, J. Dyer, C. Allen, B. Keyte, A. Sharma, S. Shah, J. Patel, H. Konduru, A. Simon, C. Haley, H. Somaiya.
