Dr Robert Pleming FRAeS
(1964-1970) led the
project that returned the Vulcan bomber to flight.
After gaining a doctorate at the Oxford University
Nuclear Physics Laboratory, he joined the IT
industry, but thirteen years ago he decided to
change career to pursue an aeronautical dream. He
writes about the project and those experiences at
Merchant Taylors’ that led him to pursue his vision
and prepared him for its challenges
