24 Hours of Music Makes a Return

Writes Ben C. (L6th)

24 Hours of Music is an annual opportunity and excuse for the musically obsessed of school (upper school that is) to put aside their cares for the normality of a school day and trade this in for one of the most instrumentally diverse nights of their life;

From Friday 23rd 9am to Saturday 24th 9am, 11 sixth formers will be keeping the music going for 24 hours straight, playing through the night. This is including but not limited to a unique performance of Handel’s Messiah, Jazz classics like ‘cheek to cheek’, and a midnight drum battle.

But it’s not just about the music, we do this to raise money for a charitable cause, this year for the charity Phab. Phab brings together children, young people and adults, with and without disabilities, to enjoy a range of fun activities. Of particular note is the Phab week at Easter we run at Merchant Taylors’, with the Phab team hosting young people with physical and learning disabilities for a fun-filled week, with activities adapted so all can take part, contributing to Phab’s aim of building an inclusive world where everyone is valued and belongs.
