Set within 280 acres of beautiful parkland in Northwood, Merchant Taylors’ School is one of the country’s leading independent schools for boys, combining academic excellence with a rich sporting tradition dating back centuries.

We are seeking passionate, energetic and inspirational Rugby Coaches to join our casual coaching team from August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a thriving rugby programme and contribute to the development of young players across a wide range of ages and abilities.

Whether you are an aspiring performance coach, an experienced school rugby practitioner, or a former player looking to develop your coaching career, we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will join a supportive and ambitious coaching environment led by the Director of Rugby and an experienced team of staff and coaches.

Key Responsibilities

As a Rugby Coach at Merchant Taylors’ School, you will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality rugby coaching sessions
  • Support staff leading coaching activities
  • Help deliver the “Taylors’ Way” across the rugby programme
  • Coach and manage teams during fixtures
  • Officiate school fixtures where required
  • Supervise pupils during matches and travel
  • Provide feedback to the Director of Rugby on player and coach development
  • Contribute positively to the wider sporting culture of the School
