Applying to university marks a very exciting time in a student’s school career. At Merchant Taylors’ the universities programme begins during the Lower Sixth year, starting with advice on how to begin their research into courses and universities through formal testing and information delivered via assemblies and the school’s virtual learning environment.
There are over 50,000 degree courses on offer in the UK and we pride ourselves on the support we give to our university applicants, regarding the documentation supplied and the expert advice that is given throughout the process by our experienced UCAS Advisers.
Our super-curricular extension programme is designed to stretch and challenge all Sixth Form pupils. Guided by their teachers, they get to forget their own paths and engage in the seminar-style debate and discussion that prepares them for both interviews and academic life at highly selective institutions.
We very much see the super-curricular programme as enabling the pupils to do well on university admissions tests and in interviews but, perhaps more importantly, to make significant contributions when they get there.
