MTS Public Speaking Society provides all members a chance to speak internally in school and, potentially in the future, we will be looking to compete in exciting public speaking competitions! Each week three speakers give prepared speeches, then we all take part in a series of impromptu speeches, volunteering to speak on topics chosen by this week’s impromptu host.
Ashton B and Zak K on their new society:
Our goal is to engage all our members to the maximum extent, so each week we assign individuals certain roles including the Impromptu Host who presents questions to the speakers, ensuring a great variety of questions and facilitate quick, engaging responses and the Evaluator who provides detailed feedback to each speaker, focussing on strengths and areas for improvement, aiming to help create a greater speaker through enhancing skills. Each meeting ends with awards given to speakers – sweets and treats will be given to everyone who participated in any speech!
Students from the Thirds to the Upper Sixth take part and, to name just a few, we have had some stand-out speeches so far from Leo M and Yusif O in the Thirds, Pravir P in the Upper Thirds and Karim O, Demi O and Zain H in the Divisions.
