Educational Partnerships

Merchant Taylors’ School has a long tradition of building strong links with the local community and beyond. The School takes pride in its partnership efforts, which continue to grow and evolve, with exciting plans for further expansion in the coming years.

Academic Partnerships

Curriculum enrichment activities feature hosting local state schools for engaging events such as ‘Harry Potter Day’, DET and STEM afternoons, Maths and Science Challenge sessions, bushcraft activities, and careers and economics conventions.

The School uses the expertise of eleven members of the Taylors’ Science staff, a number of Year 10 pupils, and its world-class facilities to provide a wide-ranging STEM Programme to local schools. Science Challenge days are a particular highlight that inspire pupils to take an interest in STEM from a young age.

The Design, Engineering and Technology Department takes VEX Robotics equipment into Warren Dell and Oxhey Wood Primary Schools, whilst rotating with other STEM activities including an Engineering Structures Challenge for Year 4 pupils.

"Both schools had the most amazing time-I am so grateful to Merchant Taylors’ and the boys."

Co-curricular Partnerships

Through its cross-sector partnerships, Taylors’ shares facilities and resources to provide mutually beneficial experiences and opportunities to pupils from state junior and senior schools.

The School’s busy programme includes hosting weekly swimming lessons, as well as organising hockey, rugby, and cricket sessions and matches for local state schools and clubs. The athletics track is made available for local primary school partners to use for their sports days.

"Thank you for the invite to an exceptional Friday Night Lights event on behalf of the Fullerians Under 9s. All the students and staff we met were incredibly welcoming, making the kids feel right at home."

Phab Week

Merchant Taylors’ is particularly proud of its students’ involvement with the charity, PHAB. Fundraising initiatives throughout the year support a week-long residential at Taylors’ for twenty young people with various mental and physical disabilities.

PHAB Week has been running at the School for over fifty years, and although the activities are a little different now from those in the 1970s, the over-arching purpose of the week remains the same, and the ethos of a student led week of activities in support of people with additional needs and their families.

"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. It means the world to us that there are groups that cater for our special kids and gives them the opportunity to do things that they so deserve.”
