The Spring Term has been busy for the Development and Alumni Relations Team. As mentioned in Concordia, the impact of the addition of VAT to School fees is still being felt, and the bursaries committee recently met to award bursaries both to boys joining us as new starters in September, and as hardship assistance to boys already at the School. The Bursary decisions follow a busy and successful admissions cycle which has confirmed the number of pupils who will join Merchant Taylors’ in 2026.
As always, we would like to give our warmest thanks to every member of our community who has contributed to the provision of bursaries in any capacity. It remains a priority of the School to ensure access to our education is inclusive and available to pupils from a broad range of backgrounds, and to foster a more diverse, dynamic, and socially aware environment where different perspectives are valued and shared. This diversity strengthens both academic life and co-curricular activity, benefiting every pupil.
The Bursary Fund will feature heavily in our upcoming Telephone Campaign where boys from the Upper Sixth and recent leavers of the School will contact OMTs, parents, and friends to share their experiences of Merchant Taylors’ and help build support for projects that will positively impact the School. We will be recruiting 13 callers from the Upper Sixth and recent leavers from 2024 and 2025 who would like to make a positive contribution to the School community and gain active campaign experience. These are paid positions (over £700 in 2 weeks!) and applications open on Monday 13 April. You can apply via the link below.
