Information for New Parents

Welcome to Merchant Taylors’ School. We are delighted to welcome your family to the School and to this exciting next stage. On this page, you will find the key forms, letters and practical information you will need between now and September, all brought together to help make the process as clear and straightforward as possible.

The page will be updated periodically as further information becomes relevant. To ensure families receive the right information at the right time, there will be three main mailings: one at Easter, one during the Summer half-term, and one during the summer holidays. Each update will be accompanied by an email directing you to the relevant section below.

Alongside the essential forms, you will also find useful guides, notes and policies to support your son’s introduction to life at Taylors’. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Team or refer to our full School Policies page.

We ask that you share medical details about your son with the School, so that in a Medical Emergency, we can offer him the best possible care.

We understand that medical information can be quite detailed and take time to gather. In order to avoid any unexpected issues when filling out the medical form, you can also view the questions first to make notes and collect the necessary data.

ICT Access Parental Consent Form

There is a complex legislative framework for the education and welfare of children, to which Merchant Taylors’ School must adhere. We are reluctant to inconvenience you with repeated requests for individual permissions on very routine issues and so we are asking you to complete the form below. You may rest assured that on any other significant matter that arises, we will seek separate permission from you: Merchant Taylors’ prides itself on its thoroughness and professionalism in these matters.

Photography & Publication Consent

Merchant Taylors’ School shares pupils’ work and photographs across a number of channels to celebrate achievements and school life. We do not always include pupils’ names alongside photographs or published work; where a name is included – for example to mark an award or achievement – pupils are identified by first name and surname initial only (e.g. “John S.”), except in the Taylorian (the School yearbook), where full names are used as part of the permanent printed record.

This information is now required from MTS for statistical purposes by organisations including the Department for Education (DfE) and the Independent Schools Council (ISC). The statistics that we are obliged to provide will not allow individual pupils to be identified. From time to time, such statistical information may be passed to DfE or ISC to contribute to local and national statistics. All the information you provide will be held confidentially and will be used to ensure that we provide the best possible service to your son.
