Manor Claim Double Victory in House Hockey Finals

Writes Jack Middleton, Director of Hockey

House Hockey was a huge success for the Third Form this term! Three Saturdays of group fixtures saw a thrilling competition, leading to a Final on Saturday 11th October.

Each House had three teams participating. In the Panthers League, it was Spenser who beat Manor in a close final. The Tigers League saw a close fought match between Hilles and Walter, Hilles taking the title. The Lions league saw a dominant Manor side keep their run of good form as they went undefeated throughout the competition with a sweep of clean sheets throughout. They eventually beat a very strong Andrewes side in the final.

Adding the results together, it was Manor who came out on top as Third Form House Hockey Champions. Every student in the Thirds represented the House during the course of the competition, with many discovering a real love for the game. The matches were competitive, energetic, and full of team spirit.

The Upper Third competition happened in a similar format to last year, with one day of seven quick fire matches all within an hour to decide the winners. It a typical fast start and well prepared teams managed to get an early advantage, cashing points on the board. In the end, there was a three way tie at the top of the table between Raphael, Hilles and Manor. Manor had the best goal difference, and so took the U13 House Hockey crown. Matches were again played in terrific spirit, and every student in the Upper Thirds were given the chance to represent their House.

Congratulations to Manor on a double and well done to everyone who took part!
