Middle School Leaders Inspire and Connect

Writes Helena Maxfield, Assistant Head of Middle School

Last week, the Middle School Leaders led the Division’s assembly to introduce their core values and give advice on how to approach life in Divisions. Our MSLs shared some personal experiences and advice regarding starting GCSE courses and working hard, whilst also not neglecting being involved in so much that is available at school.

Our MSLs will be highlighting each week some of these new clubs/societies available at School on the Division’s Team page.

Below is an account written by Daniel O. and Lucian H. (both 5ths), of their assemblies and an upcoming newsletter published today. Task Set – Our task was set to prepare and present two assemblies for both the Divisions and the Fifth Form.

Execution – We had to create two assemblies or both the Divisions and the Fifths. For the Divs, we decided to focus on introducing ourselves, letting them know our role and how we intend to support the Middle School. Additionally, we used knowledge from our own experiences in the year to offer some expert advice and tips for them to help make the most out of their time in the year. For the Fifths however, focused more on how to maintain friendships and handle the stress of an important year.

What we learnt – For many of us, this was our first opportunities to present or speak since our appointments as MSLs, and so we learnt a lot about how it feels to lead an assembly. Also, it was a way to learn more about each other, as we all saw how we worked when given a task like this. I think this really helped boost our teamwork and is that start of our cementation as one group – not ten individuals.

Newsletter:  Finally, we’ve launched the first edition of the Middle School Newsletter, available on the Divisions and Fifths’ Teams pages to round up the first half of term. The round up highlights the outstanding achievements of Divs and Fifths in the Middle School, spotlights clubs and societies and looks forward to after the half term break.
