Writes Helena Maxfield, Assistant Head of Middle School
Last Tuesday, our new Middle school Leaders undertook their first after school training. In this session – led by Miss Maxfield – they tackled a series of exercises designed to take them out of their comfort zone and challenge them physically, mentally, and socially.
A selection of ‘team building’ activities were planned for the first half of this after school training. This saw the MSLs working together to learn trust and teamwork, alongside hopefully carving some time for reflection to push them to understand more about themselves. The MSLs then sat down to an open discussion involving their personal values.
By understanding their most important values, they were able to ascertain how to work as a group. The MSLs also realised that knowing each other’s strengths and weaknesses helps them to become more efficient within their group, allowing for empathy and understanding. They are soon set to deliver two assemblies, first the Divisions and later their own year group.
