Writes Hazel Hall, Head of Charity Drive

On Friday 9 October, Charity Drive hosted a fundraising and awareness day for Nepal. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we raised just over £2,400! The money will be split 50/50 between Disaster Relief and HVP Nepal.

Disaster Relief helps people affected by natural disasters and emergencies, providing essential support to those who need it most. Meanwhile, HVP Nepal works to improve access to education for children across Nepal, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Taylors’ maintains a close personal link with HVP, with biennial trips to offer our very own boys an opportunity to teach in an HVP school.

The day included a non-uniform day and a teachers-versus-students volleyball match, celebrating volleyball’s status as Nepal’s national sport. Mrs Stuteley, Mr Collins and Mr Peace were among the teachers spotted on the court. The final score was 21-25 with the students victorious.

In the week leading up to the event, details about the Nepal disaster and HVP were shared with the tutor groups, culminating in a Nepal-themed knowledge quiz. After some close competition, VMK and JF finished tied for first place. Congratulations to both!

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the fundraising, took part in the activities and supported the day. Raising over £2,400 is a brilliant achievement, and we hope the money raised will make a real difference to the communities in Nepal.
