Senior Geography Society – James J on Geopolitics

This week at Senior Geography Society we had the first of our pupil led talks, starting with James J (U6). James spoke about the topic of geopolitics, which is prominent in GCSE and A level, and more specifically the geopolitics of Russia.

His passion for Russia and its culture was highlighted during the talk as he spoke about its history and how its physical setting was created. After giving this context, he spoke about Putin as a leader and how the people of Russia adore his bravery and assertive nature. Using this, James demonstrated his knowledge about the current war between Ukraine and Russia, talking about what both sides wanted from the war and why they are struggling to meet a resolution. This left the pupils questioning decisions by both sides as the talk was finished with pupils displaying their points of views, debating with James.

This was a really great start to our pupil led talks and with more to come. We thank James for his enthralling presentation.
