Writes Amanda South, Senior Librarian
At Merchant Taylors’, a love of books doesn’t just stay in the classroom – it comes to life in Book Boffz, our weekly book club. Open to everyone in the Third and Upper Third Form, it’s a chance to enjoy book-based games, quizzes, and activities, share recommendations, and, of course, eat biscuits!
The club restarted on Friday with its much-loved annual paper plane “Getting to Know You” activity. Our new members were warmly welcomed as they launched their planes across the Junior Library, each one carrying fun facts about themselves – from hobbies and interests to personal trivia and favourite authors. It was the perfect ice-breaker to bring the group together.
Book Boffz meets every Friday after school in the Junior Library, where boys can explore stories, swap recommendations, and take part in creative activities that bring books to life. You don’t have to be a record-breaking reader to join in; all that’s needed is curiosity, ideas to share, and a sense of fun.
This week’s biscuits were kindly handed out by our Fourth Form helper, Alexander B., who kept the group supplied with treats while discussions flow.
Whether you’re passionate about fantasy, fascinated by history, or simply enjoy chatting with friends about what you’re reading, Book Boffz is the place to be.
