German Speed-Meet with St Helen’s

Writes Malcolm Pacey, Head of German

The annual German Speed-Meet with St Helen’s School took place in November to help Fifth Formers from both schools prepare for the upcoming Mock Oral Examinations, coming up in early December.

The format is simple: two students, one card laden with randomised questions they’ll face in the speaking examination, and just three minutes to discuss them all!

It is always a social occasion as much as it is an educational opportunity, and all of the candidates enjoyed putting their German skills to a very practical use.

They discussed the International GCSE topics based around the five themes of Home & Abroad; Education & Employment; Personal Life & Relationships; The World Around Us and Social Activities, Fitness & Health.

Every year, our students comment on how much more confident they feel in their German after the Speed-Meet, and that’s what it’s all about! We always enjoy welcoming both German colleagues and students from St Helen’s and look forward to more cooperation next year.
