Writes Tilly Scott, Development Manager – Fundraising & Stewardship
In 2025, the Clubs and Societies Fund awarded over £21,000 to fund a fantastic range of activities for fifteen different student-led groups allowing them to expand the scope of their activities and bringing exciting new opportunities to pupils across the School.
The Clubs and Societies Fund is comprised of generous unrestricted gifts made by OMTs and Parents to the Head Master’s Discretionary Fund, and aims to enhance the enriching extra-curricular activities we have on offer for the boys by providing additional opportunities which would not ordinarily be possible.
Last year, the Fund assisted well established clubs such as the Chess Club who were able to attend training sessions with a Grandmaster, and Code Club who organised and ran the school’s first ever hackathon with six other schools in the area attending.
There were also several new groups founded with this funding, including Aviation Club, who were able to purchase a Microsoft Flight Simulator to set up for the passionate future aviators and aeronautical engineers, Ukelele Club, who purchased fifteen new ukeleles, and Medicine and Dentistry Society, who were able to stock up on a range of medical grade equipment for practical sessions, which aimed to inspire the next generation of medics and dentists.
A full list of all the brilliant projects funded by the Clubs and Societies Fund in 2025, along with updates on fundraising that has taken place this year and a thank you from the Head Master, can be found here.
The Development Office has now opened the Clubs and Societies Fund for applications in 2026. In order to apply, pupils need to complete a brief application form, including a short description of the proposed project or equipment purchases, what the benefits to the Club or Society and the wider MTS community are, and why it cannot be funded from elsewhere. Once the applications are received, they will be reviewed by a committee of staff, pupils, parents, and OMTs who will decide who to fund this year.
Applications must be received by Monday 9th February 2026 and should be returned to tms@mtsn.org.uk.
If you have any questions or would like more information about the Fund, please contact Tilly Scott by emailing tms@mtsn.org.uk, calling ext. 4172, or dropping by the Development Office. You can find the required application form below.
