Writes Ellie Lemoine, Head of Lower School

The Fourths welcomed parent Mrs Cassim into assembly the Friday before half-term as part of our ‘Human Library’ project.

We are borrowing humans to ask them about their lives, and we are very grateful for the brave individuals who have volunteered to be a part of this so far. This is a year-long project and will involve different boys asking different people from all walks of life questions to try to understand different perspectives.

Today we were treated to an understanding of Mrs Cassim’s experience as a Muslim woman from Sri Lanka, who has a successful career as well as a family. Mrs Cassim was so kind, gentle and friendly – could tell from the silence in the room how respectful and interested the boys were in her life. She was extremely brave to share her experiences and feelings with us and provided us with some excellent guidance for life.

We thank her and encourage any other parents, grandparents or family friends to come forward to share life experiences with us next term.
