Writes Simon Hardman, Head of Mathematics
On Wednesday, Year 5 pupils from six local prep schools – The Beacon, Gayhurst, Merchant Taylors’ Prep, St John’s, Wetherby Prep and York House – came to enjoy an afternoon of mathematics.
Immediately upon their arrival they set off on a trail around the school, making calculations and estimations around the school site. After finishing the trail and refuelling with juice and snacks in the Dining Hall, they were ready for problem solving tasks.
The afternoon was rounded off by a competitive round, with two pupils representing each prep school. This was hotly contested, with a pupil from Gayhurst narrowly claiming victory ahead of a three-way tie for second place.
