Junior Drama Takes Centre Stage

After the Middle and Senior School’s standout performances in West Side Story last term, this half term, it’s the Lower School Actors’ turn to shine. Immersing themselves in the language of Shakespeare, the cast have been exploring some of Shakespeare’s most-loved extracts in preparation for their upcoming production of Seasons of Shakespeare.

The boys have thrown themselves into the project displaying impressive commitment, collaboration and creativity – well done to them all on a busy half term of rehearsals.

Zachary G in the Upper Thirds writes:

The Junior Play has been extremely fun and enjoyable. I have especially enjoyed going through what each extract means and symbolises – before the production started, I had very little knowledge about Shakespeare and his works but now I absolutely adore them.

I have additionally learned many more dramatic techniques such as how to engage with the audience. As well, I liked blocking the individual scenes and performing scenes to other members of the cast; I have made many new friends because of the play. I also grew to understand my character of Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and how he interacts with other characters. I am very excited to watch the technical crew do their magic, and I hope that you all love the play! After all, as we say to our audience one of the many chorus pieces, ‘we’ll strive to please you every day’.
