Writes Simon Hardman, Head of Mathematics
Over two rounds, twenty-four Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth mathematicians fought for the title of 2026 MTS Integration Bee champion, which concluded with a nail-biting final round this week.
Integration is one of the two fundamental operations of calculus and it features heavily in A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. To be able to find challenging integrals quickly and accurately is a real skill and one which requires creativity and ingenuity.
The boys tested their ability against the clock and each other. A competitive first round saw six boys separate themselves from the rest of the pack to qualify for the final. The final was hotly contested and each of the six – Bardia H. (U6th), Alec M. (U6th), Shayan N. (U6th), Rahul R. (U6th), Aarav S. (U6th) and Arun S. (U6th) – was within one correct answer of the lead with only two questions to go. In the end Rahul R. (U6th) triumphed, with Alec M. (U6th) and Arun S. (U6th) narrowly behind in joint second.
Well done to all who took part.
