Writes William L. (L6th)
Last Thursday, the Squash Team travelled to Berkhamsted and came away with a 4-2 defeat. However, the score doesn’t tell the full story; it was a well-fought match, and much closer than the result suggests. It was also a clear improvement from previous years, as we lost by a far smaller margin than we have in other years.
Levin W. (Divs) produced the performance of the day, putting up a strong, determined game against their top seed. Austin L. (L6th) and Lishane W. (Divs) both won their matches, bringing in the points that kept us in the contest.
Ibrahim K. (L6th) and Arjun G. (5ths) also deserve credit. Both lost, but each played with real grit and made their opponents work for every point, with matches that could have split either way, with a tough final hold from Ibrahim K. (L6th) and some great deep shots from Arjun G. (5ths).
Thank you to Mr Champness and Mr Hilton-Dennis for organising the fixture and taking the team to Berkhamsted.
A narrow defeat, but one to be proud of. With this level of improvement, the wins can only follow.
