Staff Spotlight Magali Aguilar

Our pupils do amazing things every single day, but behind those achievements are all of the hardworking staff here at Merchant Taylors’ School. In Staff Spotlights we look to explore the diverse backgrounds and skills of the people who make Merchant Taylors’ a great place to be. This week we hear from Magali Aguilar, Language Assistant.

When did you join Merchant Taylors?

I joined the school on 22nd of September, and will be working here until the 22nd of May. I am looking forward to the year ahead!

Tell us about your role. What excited you about it? How did you get into it?

My role consists of helping Spanish learners improve their communication skills, as well as creating materials for lessons. I enjoy having the opportunity to interact with students and address any questions they may have.

I got this opportunity through the Spanish Ministry of Education and Sports in collaboration with the British Council.

What are you most proud of outside of your work at school?

Outside my work at school, since I love languages, I am proud of my ability to remain consistent in learning the Korean language.

What did you study at A-Level?

During my high school years, I studied Latin, Art History and Philosophy.

What piece of media would you recommend and why?

Finally, for those interested in Spanish music and culture, I would like to recommend the album El Mal Querer by Rosalía for its profound depth.
