Just before the Christmas holidays, the U18 Basketball Team played our final home fixture against Berkhamsted School on 11th December. After suffering two consecutive away defeats against Harrow School and Aldenham School in the preceding weeks, the team were determined to secure a victory and finish the home campaign unbeaten.
With only a slim hope of reaching the play-offs, we knew that a convincing win was essential in order to gain an advantage should the final league positions be decided by points difference. We made a bright start, combining lethal offence with solid defence, and went into the break with a commanding 42–5 lead. The momentum continued throughout the game, and we eventually recorded a resounding 91–15 victory, our highest score of the season.
Ben P. (U6th) continued his excellent form, scoring a record-breaking 35 points to become the team’s all-time leading scorer. Andrew E. (U6th) and Zakariya K. (U6th) also made significant contributions with 20 and 18 points respectively. Daniel O. (5th) returned from injury to add a further 10 points, while Ravi J. (Divs) opened his scoring account for the team.
Our final league-phase fixture will take place on 30th January 2026, away against Mill Hill School. It promises to be a challenging encounter, but with a play-off place at stake, anything can happen.
