Earlier this year, I entered the national TeenTech Awards competition with my project, PromptaCare, in the 16–19 age group under both the “Best Innovation” and “Best Use of AI” categories. TeenTech is a nationwide competition that celebrates young people using science, engineering, and technology to solve real-world problems and create innovative solutions for society.
PromptaCare is an AI-powered healthcare project designed to support carers and elderly people with memory difficulties by providing automated voice medication reminders and alerting carers if medication is missed. The idea was inspired by seeing the challenges faced by a close relative with early-onset dementia and the stress this can place on families and carers.
I was delighted to receive a Gold Award for the project and very positive feedback from the judges, regarding both the social impact and innovative use of AI within the idea. Following the success of the initial submission, PromptaCare has now progressed to the finals, which will take place on 26th June at the Institution of Engineering and Technology in London.
I am currently developing a fully working prototype and preparing for the final presentation and exhibition event.
