When did you join Taylors’?
I joined Merchant Taylors’ as a Classics and English teacher this September, having previously spent 11 years working at Aldenham School.
What most excites you about your role and what got you into it?
I am excited to be part of a Classics Department which contains numerous full-time teachers, and which offers Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation on timetable – finding a department of this size and quality is increasingly difficult! Having only so far taught English at A-Level, I am also looking forward to teaching this to a broader range of year groups. I also hear that the cricket is okay at Taylors’.
What are you most proud of outside of your work at Taylors’?
My 2-year-old’s left arm mystery spin bowling action.
What did you study?
My undergraduate degree was in Classics at Oxford, and I have recently completed a Masters’ in English Literature at Birkbeck. I would really recommend Birkbeck to anyone looking to do further study whilst still teaching. My dissertation was on the theory of the present moment in the works of Ali Smith; bringing this up tends to end conversations fairly quickly.
