The Merchant Taylors’ Summer Term Chess Tournament was decided last Friday. Jacob L. (4ths) was the winner with Aarav A. (U3rds) the runner-up. WGM and visiting coach Elmira Mirzoeva presented the pair with their trophies.
Haotong G. (3rds) finished in 3rd place after an exceptional first year, during which he has made vast improvements and looks set to become a linchpin in the team for years to come. Dhairya K. (4ths) also capped off a brilliant first year with 4th place and can look forward to plenty more competitive chess for Merchant Taylors’ as he enters Divisions.
Josh G. (U6ths) bid an emotional farewell to the club. It won’t be the same without his reliability, enthusiasm and organisation. However, we look forward to welcoming him back to the school in September with an OMT team to play against the boys.
