Language, Culture, and Churros

From morning language lessons to evening flamenco performances, pupils immersed themselves in Spanish culture on a five-day trip to Granada. Staying with host families, exploring historic landmarks, and practising their Spanish in real-life settings made for a truly unforgettable experience.

During our Spanish language and culture trip, we had the chance to spend five days living in the wonderfully historic and culturally diverse city of Granada. We stayed with host families, and each morning we had Spanish lessons to develop our language skills. The lessons were challenging but really helped us to improve and on our final day, we tested our Spanish by interviewing residents on the street.

After the lessons, we got the chance to play sports such as volleyball and pádel for 2 hours to unwind a little. After a very late Spanish lunch, we used the afternoons to discover the city’s culture and history by visiting landmarks such as the Alhambra, the Albaicín and Sacromonte area of the city. Landmarks aside, we also visited the Science Museum, which was full of interactive exhibits, a zoo, and a birds of prey display.

The Alhambra Palace was beautiful, especially its peaceful gardens and detailed designs.

One of the highlights of the trip was watching a captivating flamenco performance in the evening. Another highlight was the daily chocolate and churros in the local café. Sandra, our hostess was really kind and made us feel at home. The trip was an unforgettable blend of learning, culture and friendship that we will always treasure.
