Eight Lower Sixth aspiring medics recently spent an inspiring day at Harefield Hospital attending the Your Heart Hospital 2026 event.

Throughout the day, students attended presentations from leading cardiologists and healthcare professionals on topics including heart attacks, heart rhythm disorders, heart valve disease, preventative cardiology and life-saving resuscitation skills. They also took part in practical sessions and had the opportunity to speak with doctors, nurses and allied healthcare professionals about their day-to-day roles and career pathways.

Reflecting on the experience, Lower Sixth student Saif A. (L6th) said:

“I found the day to be an extremely eye-opening insight into the world of cardiology at one of the leading centres for it nationally. The talks delivered by a wide range of professionals taught me that there is so much more to medicine than simply calling yourself a doctor and nurse. I am very grateful for having the opportunity to take part in such a valuable experience.”

The visit was an excellent opportunity for students to broaden their understanding of healthcare careers and gain valuable insight into working in a modern specialist heart hospital. We would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the medical and healthcare staff at Harefield Hospital who gave their time and expertise to make the event such a success.
