After the previous chairs, Arin and Yuvraj, handed over to us, the new committee has been busy keeping up the high standard they set. Over the past two weeks, members have taken on a mix of hands-on challenges designed to build key skills for future medics and dentists.
In our manual-dexterity session, students put their steadiness and precision to the test with buzz-wire games, bead-stacking towers, and threading floss through miniature needles – tasks that mirror the fine motor control needed in real procedures.
This week, the society shifted focus to first aid, rotating through three real-world scenarios: delivering lifesaving CPR in a cardiac arrest, treating injuries with improvised bandaging, and performing the Heimlich manoeuvre (alongside the simple but vital step of encouraging someone to cough!).
Next week, we move into medical ethics with “Ethics On the Edge,” where members will tackle real SJT and interview-style dilemmas. We’d love to see even more new faces there!
