Poetry of Love and Revolution

Pierre’s fantastic Panglossia presentation on a beautiful Friday afternoon captured our attention. He presented his findings on the Peruvian poet, Pablo Neruda, speaking passionately about his poems of love and showing us the similarities between the Spanish and Italian versions.

Delving deep into the history of Neruda, Pierre showed us the worldwide influence his poems had, entertaining civil-wartime Spain whilst deeply connecting readers to his works of art. Being only one of three Spanish speaking Nobel prize winners, a homage film was made to recognise his effort. “Il Postino” showed how his poems changed lives and connect people’s hearts.
